I am glad that Bobbie Lee finally realised the truth.Slow and quiet, this is a lovely book about love, familj and loyalty - and about life sometimes dealing you all the wrong cards... or the right ones. The Butterfly House is a faith based organization for women rescued from sex trafficking.
The word choices were lovely. Our vision is to also build a safe home for boys. Decent read; just not my preferred kind of novel. Put THAT on a book jacket! One day, while each girl was with the other's mother, tragedy strikes causing the four of them to be separated for 10 years.
The author is a fantastic writer, and the book flows really well.
I really couldn't put it down. I loved this book. Traffickers, often pimps, use threat or force, coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power, payments to person in control of the victim to make profit.
Butterflies feature as part of the scientific/environmental interest backdrop to what is effectively a criminal mystery.Better than expected this tells the story of Roberta, her alcoholic mother, her best friend Cincy and Cincy’s mom Lenora who becomes her surrogate mom. 3.5 stars...What DIDN'T happen to poor Bobbie Lee? I have been utterly disappointed in the trite I have endured reading recently, that reminiscing about this book makes me appreciate just how good the story was. Each donation holds the key to open the door for a woman’s recovery in the Butterfly House. Would definitely recommend to readers who love a good flashback story with mystery, drama and a touch of romance.A reasonably good novel about mother/daughter/BFF relationships with some twists involved. The tone of the book is literary and thoughtful. My new favourite book.This was a quick read, and I am really loving Marcia Preston books right now! So excited his bill passed to place the Human Trafficking Hot Line number in ABC stores.
