got this for my mum when she comes to stay as it was her favourite when she was a lot younger,, and I must admit,, the music and gene Kelly was wonderful, Brigadoon is a 1954 American Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical film made in CinemaScope and Metrocolor based on the 1947 Broadway musical of the same name by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe. A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES MUSICALS. In all, it's a good picture but - due to so many compromises - not a great one. MyFlixer is a Free Movies streaming site with zero ads.
There is an atmosphere of innocence and honesty throughout the film. So it filmed both "Brigadoon" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," the studio's other big musical in production, both in widescreen and conventional formats.

Lerner's ties to MGM (he wrote "An American in Paris" and would later write "Gigi"), it seems natural that "Brigadoon," his first hit with composer Frederick Loewe, would wind up at MGM. And studio financial set backs probably scuttled plans to shoot on location in Scotland and film instead on the backlot, much of which would be sold off a mere two years hence. I compared it briefly to a standard dvd version copyright in 1997.
