The niceness on this show feels a little contrived given that one of the competitors is a malignant narcissist, and it is just TOO obvious that someone had a word with him around episode six.I think another season or two would let them settle into a groove (and maybe screen out the unskilled and the psychopaths) which would make this excellent TV, especially if they managed to break themselves of the nasty habit of asking contestants about what tear-jerking thing is inspiring them to compete. The bakers work on delicious surprises, including showstopper challenges of towers of macarons and gingerbread houses. This show is edited to highlight the negative personality traits of the participants, and the bar for baking is set so low that the main criterion for success is to bake 3 things in a row that are edible, This gets 3 stars just because, like video of a plane crash, you find yourself unable to look away.
